Sometime back in January 2012, we attempted potty training with Blake. I went to IKEA, bought a nice lime green potty and thought to myself, this should be easy!
Well, I was wrong.
It was tough trying to get Blake to sit on it. He kept thinking it was a toy. Needless to say, after a week of trying then, I decided that maybe he’s just not ready for it.
Fast forward more than a year later, Blake is starting potty training again. This time, I have the help of his school teachers. His form teacher, Teacher Sandy, mentioned that maybe he’s ready to start as he has been wanting to follow his potty-trained classmates to the toilet whenever they went. She took the opportunity to teach him what they were doing, so she told me to just do the same with him at home, whenever Sean or myself had to use the toilet.
The home training part is really tough though. Blake refuse to go anywhere near the toilet, unless it’s shower or bath time. And while he tells us when he has done a big one like 80% of the time, he won’t say anything if it’s a tinkle.
Oh well, when they’re ready, they will just know what to do, right?
