CoCo Ichibanya

Many weeks back, Sean and I visited CoCo Ichibanya at Plaza Singapura, their fifth outlet to be opened in Singapore, and we had a fantastic time filling our bellies with all the yums!

Grilled Garlic Prawns and curry in all 6 levels of spiciness –
mild (for children), standard (0), medium hot (1),
hot (2), extra hot (3), super hot (4), crazy hot (5)

Sean and I have visited CoCo Ichibanya separately before – him with colleagues and me with my elder sis – and while he has tried the level two spice, I never went beyond mild. Hehe.

That day, we challenged our taste buds! I tried up to level 2 before I surrendered. Sean, on the other hand, went up to level 5 and happily finished his food with the level 5 curry!

Pork Cutlet Omelette
Note: The curry was served separately as we wanted to try it with all the different levels of spice

The Pork Cutlet is so delicious! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with the right ratio of meat to crisp. It’s also a really generous portion of meat, omelette and rice. This is one of their best seller, so if you’re visiting for the first time and you like fried food like me, go for this!

Wagyu Beef Steak

For someone who don’t fancy bloody steak, but at the same time finds well-done a little tough to chew on, I was pleasantly surprised when the chef cooked this particular Wagyu Beef Steak to a medium-well perfection!

Seafood Basket

The sauce that came with the Seafood Basket is an absolute delight. I was so in love with it and kept dipping my Ebi Fry in it to soak up as much as possible! Personal favourites from the basket are Ebi Fry and Gyoza.

Grilled Pork and Kimchi

The moment I saw this dish, I hesitated to try. Kimchi to me was something super spicy and sour, but after I was assured again and again that it’s not that spicy (not level 2 curry spicy), I took a bite and I couldn’t believe how appetizing this Grilled Pork and Kimchi was!

After our really heavy meal, it was time to fill up my second compartment in the stomach… The dessert compartment!

Chocolate Crepe Cake

I’ve never had crepe cake before, so I was looking forward to this! While it may look really heavy, being all chocolate, it was pretty light to taste. I was hoping it would be a little more dense so as to have more ‘chew’ factor.

Matcha Cheesecake

At first glance, I thought this was a Chendol-inspired cake, but as it turns out, it was a unique combination of Matcha Cheesecake with red bean filling. This cake is one for people with acquired taste buds, or a love for anything matcha.

Milk Cream Puff

This… This magical Milk Cream Puff… It’s so divine that I refused to share! Fortunately for Sean, he managed to grab a bite before I took ownership over it. Haha! Seriously, it’s very good! The trick to enjoying this to the fullest is to let it thaw a little before eating. Take tons of photos of it and post it up on your Instagram or Facebook while waiting – you’ll definitely want to tell the world how awesome this dessert is!

Mango Peach Smoothie

After consuming all of the above, washing it all down with this glass of tasty Mango Peach Smoothie (despite my stuffed stomach) was one of the best decision I made that day. I felt so refreshed! Hands down one of the best Mango Peach Smoothie I’ve tried in my life!

Thank you, CoCo Ichibanya, for such an amazing meal on our date!
